Gerald E. Reynolds, Ph.D., Chairman, Licensed Psychologist (PY 2536)

Dr. Reynolds is a native of Alabama who, following military service, completed his undergraduate degree in psychology and biology from Montevallo University. He then attended the University of Florida on fellowship. His early research work was in the area of small group dynamics. Dissertation research was undertaken in neuropsychology, especially memory function. He earned his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Florida in Gainesville. He completed a clinical internship at Shands Teaching Hospital in Gainesville and at the University of Florida Counseling Center. The experience included teaching abnormal psychology at the University of Florida at the assistant level, and later staff service at Northeast Florida State Hospital.

Dr. Reynolds joined the Byron Harless Group in 1976. He has been chairman of the group since 1998. His practice areas have included a full range of clinical and industrial services. His current emphasis is in corporate/organizational psychology and some aspects of forensic psychology, specifically neuropsychological evaluation. He has extensive experience in pre-employment, management development, and general executive assessment. He also specializes in attitude and opinion surveys, fitness-for-duty examinations, and consulting with government agencies at all levels. He is licensed to practice in Florida and is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Florida Psychological Association, and the Northeast Florida Psychological Association. Christopher T. Kalkines, Psy.D., President, Licensed Psychologist (PY 4489)

Dr. Kalkines is a Jacksonville native and was graduated with a B.A. in Psychology and M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Florida. He was employed for nine years at a private psychiatric hospital in several roles including Director of Social Services and Director of Administration before entering the Clinical Psychology Program at the University of Denver, School of Professional Psychology where he completed his Doctor of Psychology degree in 1989. In Denver, Dr. Kalkines was employed as a behavioral medicine research assistant at the University of Colorado Department of Family Medicine and in clinical positions at Rose Medical Center, St. Anthony Hospital Systems EAP Program, Aurora Presbyterian Hospital, the University of Denver Student Mental Health Clinic, and in private practice. He accepted a commission as an officer in the U.S. Navy and completed the Clinical Psychology Internship Program at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland before being transferred to Naval Hospital, Orlando. There, Dr. Kalkines directed outpatient mental health services and served as the primary mental health consultant to the Navy's prestigious Naval Nuclear Power Schools. Dr. Kalkines was decorated by the Navy and officially recognized by the American Psychological Association for service with the First Marine Expeditionary Force in Saudi Arabia in Operation Desert Shield. In that role, he was the first US military psychologist deployed to the Southwest Asian theatre of operations and perhaps the first psychologist ever to provide clinical services in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Kalkines returned to Jacksonville and joined the Byron Harless group in 1992. He has been a principal and President since 1998. His primary practice areas are in talent assessment for selection and development purposes, law enforcement/sensitive duties pre-employment and Fitness for Duty examinations, and forensic psychology. In the forensic area, Dr. Kalkines is often retained as a consultant and expert and has particular expertise in employment law cases involving sexual harassment, ADA, FMLA, EEOC, and mental disorder and disability issues. He has testified at trial in both Federal and State courts. He was an invited Adjunct Professor in psychometrics at the University of North Florida.

Dr. Kalkines is a psychologist licensed to practice in Florida and is a member of the American Psychological Association and Florida Psychological Association, having served as President of the Northeast Florida Chapter. He maintains memberships in the Human Capital Institute, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and the Florida Police Chief's Association. He is a graduate of the inaugural class of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Citizen's Police Academy. In the community, Dr. Kalkines is a Contemporaries member of the Jacksonville Museum of Contemporary Art and an inaugural member of the Jacksonville Jaguars Touchdown Club. He has served as a mayoral appointee to the Victim's Assistance Advisory Council and was a founding member of the Arlington Rotary Club, where he held several leadership positions.
